The month of Ramadan is considered the ninth month of the Hijri year, and it is the month of fasting and the revelation of the Qur’an.
The Word Ramadan is derived from the verb: Ramad (meaning intense heat).
Its name was mentioned in Surat Al-Baqarah As a divine command from Allah upon Muslims and saying that fasting was ordered into the early prophets also.
Characteristics of the month of Ramadan
he month of Ramadan is distinguished from the rest of the months by many characteristics, which are explained below:
The month of the Qur’an being revealed:

The Holy Qur’an was revealed in it, and that was on the Night of Decree.

Allah the almighty said in his holy book: (Indeed, We sent it down on the Night of Decree).

And the rest of the other divine books also were revealed in it, which are the sheets of Abraham, the Torah, and the Psalms.
In it the gates of Paradise are opened, the gates of Hell are closed, and the devils are chained, according to the Hadith of the Prophet - may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him.
Performing Umrah In the month of Ramadan equals the reward of performing Hajj.
Allah commanded fasting on every Muslim as It was also commanded upon previous nations.
Whoever fasts for Allah - the Most High - and seeks reward from him, his previous sins will be forgiven as stated in the hadith of prophet Muhammad PBUH.
In it the rewards are doubled, and it is a month of charity, sympathy and mercy, and liberation from the Fire, and it is the month of supplication and remembrance.
and in it there is ( Laylatul Qadr) the Night of Decree. Which is better than a thousand months, which is approximately eighty-three years, and its rise is a reason for the forgiveness of sins.
